Fireguard technology

The requirements and specifications of the current building regulations have been thoroughly researched by our designers with the result that JCC Fireguard can offer a one-stop solution in recessed downlights.

Built-in fire ceiling protection

At the heart of the Fireguard design is the integral intumescent fire barrier material that, in the event of a fire, seals the downlight and maintains the fire rating of the ceiling.

In modern homes, ceilings can be constructed to give 30 minute, 60 minute or 90 minute fire protection. Fireguard is tested for all 3 ceiling types.

Fireguard convenience

Being a one-piece design, no further firehoods are required making Fireguard the easiest and most convenient means of installing downlights with a fire rated ceiling.

Fireguard is thoroughly tested for safety and performance and is eminently suitable for the installation methods commonly used in new houses today.

Fire protection

Under fire conditions, special intumescent material swells and seals the downlight so that the fire-rated ceiling is maintained for its full rated duration. No firehoods required, saving considerable installation time and effort.

Air permeability

Under normal working conditions the white silicon gasket serves to ensure a tailored fit against the underside of the ceiling, preventing air permeability and stopping any light spill. This also ensures a decorated finish to the ceiling; assuming the ceiling is white. The silicon “O” Ring serves to further prevent air permeability through the body of the luminaire.

Installation

To ensure optimum performance, the Fireguard halogen downlights are designed for use with forward heat lamps. This means that Fireguard can offer optimal moisture and fire protection whilst also ensuring the best lamp life.

Loop-in/Loop-out wiring

Extra large wiring terminals with an additional earth provision means that loop-in/out wiring is easily achieved. Available on 240V halogen downlights & JC4020 low voltage transformer.

Adjustable ceiling springs

Ceiling retaining springs can be adjusted so that Fireguard can be installed in most types of fire ceiling constructions, single or double layer ceiling boards.

Easy lamp removal

The lamp holder can be pulled out of the fitting making for easy lamp replacement.
